Mother Verde Wellness Weekly: When Your Inner Critic Gets Too Loud 💭

Good afternoon,

This week we are talking about mindset and more specifically, how to stop your negative self-talk from running the show.

The voice inside your head: is it cruel or is it kind?

We all have that voice inside our head that narrates our day like an overcritical coach. It tells us we should be doing more, that we messed up again, that we’re falling behind. But the truth is, that voice isn’t really you. It’s an old protector, one that needs retraining, not obedience.

In this week’s post, I’m sharing how to start interrupting those patterns, building awareness, and cultivating a kinder relationship with yourself.

Because the way you talk to yourself determines the way you live.

I know, because I have been healing my relationship with myself.

I struggled with low self-esteem from my teenage years and throughout most of my adult life. I masked this pretty well, but I thought poorly of myself, and stayed in places that hurt me because of that. I continued habits that were harmful, because of a lack of self-esteem and loving support.

One reason I became a coach was to develop my own inner voice to one that’s been harsh, impatient, loud, and annoying (and still sometimes is), to one that’s understanding, kind, patient, and loving. It felt awkward at first, but so is learning anything… including knitting, which I just took up with my daughter this week.

Soon it becomes easy, once you get the hang of it.

Recipe of The Week

Masala Turkey Chili

This recipe is unique for chili season with its Indian spice profile. It is warming, nutritious, full of flavor, lean protein, and fiber. It comes together very fast in the instant pot and is better the next day and freezer friendly. Add one can beans or two. For a thicker, creamier chili, purée half a can of the rinsed beans before adding to chili.

🌸 Mantra of the Week

"I am doing the best I can with what I know."

Tip of the Week:

Practice observing the inner voice and its tone. Just notice when it’s happening, and see if you can gently shift the inner dialogue to a more positive state.

Good afternoon...This Week We’re Talking About Mindset. Good afternoon, If the start of this year feels heavy instead of energizing, you’re not imagining it... and you’re not doing anything wrong. Even if you’re not watching the news, the weight of what’s happening in the world still reaches your body. Add winter, motherhood, work, emotional labor, and the constant pressure to “get it together,” and it makes sense that many of us feel tired, resistant, or quietly overwhelmed. There’s still so...

Checking in…how are you doing? It's almost the new year! This Week We’re Talking About Stress Reduction The days after the holidays can feel tender. We’re full of cheese and emotions. We don’t know what day it is. Decorations start to come down, routines are still a little wacky, and there’s a mix of joy; gratitude, exhaustion, and emotion sitting together. I notice it most in the body… slower mornings, heavier shoulders, a real need for quiet. I am truly sleepy and lazy right now. I’m making...

Happy Holidays! This Week We’re Talking About Time Management This time of year moves differently.Days are shorter. Routines loosen. School pauses. Mornings stretch and feel less predictable. There’s a pull to slow down… even as life keeps asking for attention. Many women are holding a lot right now. The end of a full year. The emotional weight in the world. Grief sitting quietly alongside the holidays. A longing for light, connection, and moments that feel steady. It’s time to support...
