Mother Verde Wellness Weekly: My Brain Has 100 Tabs Open, But I’m Rejecting the Guilt

Good afternoon.

This week we’re talking about mindset. And guilt. I feel a little guilty that I dropped the ball on our newsletter last week, sorry! We are juggling so much, and many good exciting things. Yesterday I finally got some (guilt-free) rest. On Saturday we had our local holiday market and we sold some homemade skincare, marshmallows, hot tea, chocolates, and art made by my daughters. It was fun! But also, a lot of work.

This time of year, the mental & physical load is immense. My body is craving slowness, extra sleep and warmth. As a busy working mama, I have to push through and do my best to balance. Self-care has been critical. My 8 and 11-year-olds want homemade cookies, ice skating and travel, and those wishes, combined with my heavy workload, leave me with a hundred regular tabs open in my brain, and the holiday tabs piling on top.

As a working mom, I have to set boundaries. We are staying home this year. I'm focusing on simple joys, like low-key Christmas traditions. I have to be okay with the fact that my kids want big parties and travel, and that I simply cannot deliver on everything.

What I confess is the constant, daily work it takes to reject the guilt that tries to creep in when I prioritize my deadlines over holiday extras, or that I can’t simply manage it all.

The only way I survive this season is by (hiring help!), lowering my expectations and keeping things simple, and working daily to reframe those negative thoughts and granting my body permission to rest. This means accepting that some people, my family, and even my children, will be disappointed.

If you are fighting the pressure to overextend yourself this season, this week’s post is for you.

It's all about the Mindset and why The Guilt Trap is so fierce, even when you're setting firm boundaries. Learn the daily practices to reframe your mind and let some things go.

Recipe of the Week🌟

Golden Turmeric Latte

Cozy, spiced, soothing, and highly anti-inflammatory.

Turmeric is something I use almost daily in my cooking and juice making. These golden lattes are becoming more commonly featured in cafes. Try making your own spice blend.

🌸 Mantra of the Week

“My rest is necessary. My care is critical. I release shame. When I honor myself, I give more love & good feelings to others”

✨ Tip of the Week

Choose one small pause every day. It might be sipping your coffee in silence, closing your eyes for two minutes, saying no to something that drains you, or observing an animal. These micro-moments signal to your body that it is safe to slow down and be in the now.

💖A Gentle Reframe

Feeling guilty doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re breaking patterns that never served you in the first place.

Until next week.

With love,

Lindsey

Good afternoon...This Week We’re Talking About Mindset. Good afternoon, If the start of this year feels heavy instead of energizing, you’re not imagining it... and you’re not doing anything wrong. Even if you’re not watching the news, the weight of what’s happening in the world still reaches your body. Add winter, motherhood, work, emotional labor, and the constant pressure to “get it together,” and it makes sense that many of us feel tired, resistant, or quietly overwhelmed. There’s still so...

Checking in…how are you doing? It's almost the new year! This Week We’re Talking About Stress Reduction The days after the holidays can feel tender. We’re full of cheese and emotions. We don’t know what day it is. Decorations start to come down, routines are still a little wacky, and there’s a mix of joy; gratitude, exhaustion, and emotion sitting together. I notice it most in the body… slower mornings, heavier shoulders, a real need for quiet. I am truly sleepy and lazy right now. I’m making...

Happy Holidays! This Week We’re Talking About Time Management This time of year moves differently.Days are shorter. Routines loosen. School pauses. Mornings stretch and feel less predictable. There’s a pull to slow down… even as life keeps asking for attention. Many women are holding a lot right now. The end of a full year. The emotional weight in the world. Grief sitting quietly alongside the holidays. A longing for light, connection, and moments that feel steady. It’s time to support...
