Mother Verde Wellness Weekly: Digital Detox for Moms Who Can’t Unplug

Good afternoon,

Do you ever feel like you’re more in the digital world than the real world? This week I am talking about stress reduction and our connection to technology.

This last Halloween weekend I went trick or treating with my daughter, who went as a pterosaur, and I as Trinity from the Matrix. I like Trinity because she’s super strong, devoted & faithful, cool AF, and conscious. She’s a badass.

She is also a fighter against this simulation humans are put in. Sometimes it feels like we can’t escape this digital world we’re in with all its apps, news, notifications, digital wallets, multipurpose technology, and beyond….

But you can… with intention and returning to the body and making time for stillness, even if it's starting with a few moments of fully present attention at a time with the people in front of you.

It’s important more than ever, to reclaim your focus and energy away from screens. Our overconsumption of tech and specifically social media is making us more unfocused, emotionally weak, lonely, and disconnected more than ever…

The phone has become our escape, our pause button, our little moment of quiet, but it rarely gives us what we truly need: grounding, presence, and community.

In this week’s blog, I share simple ways to adjust your relationship with your phone so you feel calmer, clearer, and more connected to your life again.

Recipe of The Week

Roasted Vegetable Salad

This is a very autumnal, very satisfying, very nutrient-dense side salad or could be enjoyed as vegetarian main.

🌸 Mantra of the Week

"I release the need to be constantly available. I choose presence, peace, and connection."

Tip of the Week:

For a mini digital detox, turn off your phone completely to be fully present at a shared meal or bedtime, even if it’s for 30 minutes.

Go deeper: turn it off for the night when you’re home and any pressing matters are done.

Upcoming Events & Services

On November 15th, with Roots to Rise NYC I will do a talk on why Food Is Medicine (with a cooking demo & tasting!) at Nourish to Flourish at Casa Wellness in Astoria, NYC. This is in collaboration with Siembra Today, leading the workshop with a talk on being a conscious parent in today's world. It's free! Hope to see you there.

Until next time,
Lindsey

Good afternoon...This Week We’re Talking About Mindset. Good afternoon, If the start of this year feels heavy instead of energizing, you’re not imagining it... and you’re not doing anything wrong. Even if you’re not watching the news, the weight of what’s happening in the world still reaches your body. Add winter, motherhood, work, emotional labor, and the constant pressure to “get it together,” and it makes sense that many of us feel tired, resistant, or quietly overwhelmed. There’s still so...

Checking in…how are you doing? It's almost the new year! This Week We’re Talking About Stress Reduction The days after the holidays can feel tender. We’re full of cheese and emotions. We don’t know what day it is. Decorations start to come down, routines are still a little wacky, and there’s a mix of joy; gratitude, exhaustion, and emotion sitting together. I notice it most in the body… slower mornings, heavier shoulders, a real need for quiet. I am truly sleepy and lazy right now. I’m making...

Happy Holidays! This Week We’re Talking About Time Management This time of year moves differently.Days are shorter. Routines loosen. School pauses. Mornings stretch and feel less predictable. There’s a pull to slow down… even as life keeps asking for attention. Many women are holding a lot right now. The end of a full year. The emotional weight in the world. Grief sitting quietly alongside the holidays. A longing for light, connection, and moments that feel steady. It’s time to support...
